UEFA Champions League runners-up last season, Manchester United FC have strengthened ahead of their 2011/12 European campaign with the signing of England winger Ashley Young from Aston Villa FC.
Young passed a United medical on Thursday before finalising his move to Old Trafford on a five-year contract with the English titleholders. He had spent the past four seasons at Villa Park following his transfer from Watford FC in January 2007, scoring 29 goals in 157 league appearances for the west Midlands outfit.
The 25-year-old struck only his second international goal in his 15th senior England appearance in last month's UEFA EURO 2012 qualifier against Switzerland. He becomes Sir Alex Ferguson's second summer signing after England Under-21 centre-back Phil Jones joined from Blackburn Rovers FC. Both players will have the chance to feature in the UEFA Champions League group stage next term.
