Olympique de Marseille will be forced to negotiate at least their first two UEFA Champions League group stage games without Stéphane Mbia after the defender suffered a foot injury.

The Cameroonian international, who made six appearances in Marseille's 2010/11 UEFA Champions League campaign, sustained the knock in Sunday's 2-2 Ligue 1 draw at AJ Auxerre. Subsequent scans ruled him out for six weeks due to a broken metatarsal in his left foot.

Didier Deschamps' side, ninth in the French top flight after two games, will discover their group stage opponents when the draw is made in Monaco on Thursday week.
