FC Barcelona have suffered a blow ahead of Tuesday's UEFA Champions League Group H opener at home against AC Milan, with attacker Alexis Sánchez set to be out of action for up to two months after tearing a hamstring in Saturday's 2-2 draw at Real Sociedad de Fútbol.
The Chilean international, a high-profile summer signing from Udinese Calcio, was taken off on a stretcher after 32 minutes in San Sebastian with his side 2-0 up, and while further tests have yet to be carried out, Barcelona announced that the 22-year-old could be sidelined for up to eight weeks. It is the second time the former CA River Plate player has been injured this season; he was ruled out for a week after picking up a thigh strain during the warm-up ahead of the Spanish Super Cup second leg success against Real Madrid CF on 17 August.
