Tonight's game is a mirror of our season. As in Marseille we were the best team and wasted two or three chances. In 180 minutes we allowed them only three shots on target, but only teams that are able to score win football matches. My compliments to Marseille; this is football and we must accept the outcome.

At the moment we can't give more than this on the pitch. We started pretty well tonight, but after the first 20 minutes we were already struggling. They were good at passing the ball and we didn't find the space to supply our forwards; then [Wesley] Sneijder picked up an injury. It's a pity to go out of the competition in such a way, but we gave everything. Now we must find the motivation to close the gap in the league.

Didier Deschamps, Marseille coach
We had tough moments in the game. We struggled to score. When I put him [Brandão] on, he told me he would score. It's fabulous, I think we were great. There were chances for both sides and we were a bit shy offensively, but we hurt them in a similar fashion to the first leg; in an Italian style.

We faced a great quality team. Steve Mandanda saved us in the first half but Inter scored 15 minutes from time. We knew that we could have conceded again but especially that we had to score. We feel huge pride. It shows that, in football, belief is key until the final whistle is blown.

We are so happy to have reached the quarter-finals. It is extra special considering the number of fans that travelled to the game. The atmosphere will be strange in Marseille because we have had a tough time in the league, but the main thing is, we're through.
