Valencia CF have continued to strengthen their squad for the UEFA Champions League group stage by signing forward Nelson Valdez on a season's loan from FC Rubin Kazan.
The Mestalla outfit will also have the chance to make the 28-year-old Paraguayan international a permanent addition, and Valdez said of the deal: "I am absolutely delighted to be part of such a great club."
After leaving his native country – for whom he has scored 12 times in 59 appearances – Valdez moved to Germany in 2001/02, proceeding to play more than 200 Bundesliga games for SV Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund. Prior to joining Russian side Rubin last year, he had also struck eight goals in 25 outings for Valencia's Alicante-based neighbours Hércules CF.
Valdez links up with fellow newcomers Andrés Guardado, João Pereira, Fernando Gago and Sergio Canales ahead of Valencia's 2012/13 Liga opener at champions Real Madrid CF on Sunday.
