Positives for Braga and Udinese

SC Braga pair Beto and Paulo Vinícius felt they deserved to win last night's play-off first leg against Udinese Calcio, for whom Danilo and Willians are confident of progress in Italy next week.

SC Braga against Udinese Calcio promised to be tight and it remains that way after the sides drew 1-1 in northern Portugal last night. Players from both sides reflect on the first leg and look forward to next Wednesday's return in Italy when one of them will progress to the UEFA Champions League group stage.

Beto, Braga goalkeeper
We gave a great demonstration of our ability and quality; I think we deserved to win. We had around 70% ball possession, and nearly 20 shots on goal, but we weren't as efficient as Udinese who scored from one of their four or five chances. Actually, they scored from their first chance. We reacted well and showed great personality, great organisation, and everything is open for the second match. We'll go to Udinese to win and deliver the qualification for Braga.

Obviously by conceding a goal at home, things become a bit more difficult, but not impossible. It isn't easy, they defend with five players, a line of five, and it's difficult to get through that defence. I still firmly believe that we are capable of going to Italy and bringing home a positive result.

Paulo Vinícius, Braga midfielder
The result was not a fair reflection of the match, because we controlled it. We conceded a goal, but reacted well in the second half and scored the equaliser through Ismaily. We pushed for the second, but couldn't get it and now we'll look to get a result in Italy. We have to concentrate, be confident and work well with the ball because they have a quality striker [Antonio Di Natale] and we have to be careful not to concede there.

Danilo, Udinese defender
We played a good match. We marked them better and had some chances in the first half, but in the second they dominated, even if we had a couple of small opportunities through Di Natale. We were under pressure from Braga, but it's our first match of the season and we felt that a bit. Now we hope to put in a better performance for our fans at home on Tuesday.

We've studied Braga a lot and with me bring Brazilian I know some of their players. They played at a good tempo but didn't catch us by surprise. We knew they had quick players and would play on the counter. We felt it was 50-50 and it's still like that.

Willians, Udinese midfielder
Scoring a goal away from home is like one point. They're a great team but at home we have to show that Udinese are a strong team. I'm confident we'll play well next Wednesday and come away with the victory.
