José Mourinho, Madrid coach
It is a good win because the DNA of my team is back. Real Madrid can lose matches, Mourinho can lose matches – we could have lost this game tonight and I would have been proud – but I cannot lose like we did at Sevilla or Getafe. My happiness is because my team has its DNA back. They proved that, if they want to be top professionals and to respect Real Madrid's history, they can do it. Not just against teams like City, but in every match. If I am the coach of a small team I can lose more times. As coach of Real Madrid I cannot accept it. It is a big victory against a big team. We didn't deserve to struggle so much, we deserved to win the match before the last minute.
No, I don't have sympathy [for City]. That's football and we deserved to win. If I felt we didn't, I would feel for them, but we played a better match from the first minute and deserved it totally.
Roberto Mancini, City manager
We are disappointed. In the first half we did not play well but in the second half we did and when you score two goals here and go 2-1 up, you should pay more attention. I do not want us to continue to defend like this. When it was 2-1 we should have continued to play high like we did in the second half.
We cannot continue to talk about [a lack of] experience – we have good players playing in their national teams and playing a lot of games. I am happy with our performance in the second half, and the way we improved, but we should be disappointed as we lost the points.
I think the other teams will lose here. We have five games left and it is important we beat Dortmund at home next. It will be difficult as they are a top team but this year we want to go through.
