UEFA Champions League group stage contenders SL Benfica have further strengthened their squad with the signing of Argentinian midfielder Luis Fariña on a five-year contract.
The 22-year-old arrives for an undisclosed fee from Racing Club de Avellaneda, for whom he made his debut in 2009. He links up with compatriots Ezequiel Garay, Eduardo Salvio, Nicolás Gaitán, Enzo Peréz and fellow summer signing Lisandro López at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica.
The attacking midfielder becomes the Portuguese club's eighth new face of the close season as they rebuild for the 2013/14 campaign. Bruno Cortez, Steven Vitória, Stefan Mitrović, Lazar Marković, Miralem Sulejmani and Filip Djuričić have also stepped through the entrance door at the Lisbon club.
