This was the best match I have seen this team play since I came back here as coach [in August]. We did everything right throughout and stuck to our game plan. We were under pressure for the last quarter of an hour of the first half and in the second half, but [Galatasaray] had one more day's rest than we did [after their weekend fixture] so it was only natural that we tired towards the end. However, we produced at least as many chances as they did. In general I think we were in control and we won deservedly. Our entire team did extremely well.
Now I hope Real Madrid beat Galatasaray, because this will boost our prospects of continuing in the Europa League with a point at home against Real. Anyway, we are still alive in our group which probably not many people would have expected at this point.

The result is bad and we never envisaged we would lose. Now we must beat Juventus. Just because you are a goal down, it is still not appropriate to attack with five forwards. It was my choice to bring on [midfielder] Ceyhun [Gülselam] in the second half. Our second-choice goalkeeper Eray [İşcan] played quite well.
Despite not having [Wesley] Sneijder, we created many opportunities but failed to convert them. We have to learn how not to concede a goal. I congratulate my players on their work, though. All we have to do now is defeat Juventus at home.
