Defender Laurent Koscielny stressed the importance of building a "winning mentality" as Arsenal FC step up their pursuit of a first trophy in nine years.
"We are on the right track and it's always nice to get a head start in the Premier League. The league season is very long and so is the Champions League, so we need to remain focused and keep doing the same things," centre-back Koscielny told UEFA.com "We must continue showing good movement, playing our passing football and defending as a unit. Every player on the pitch is important."
The Premier League leaders have been in fine fettle this term and stand on the verge of a place in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 after a comfortable 2-0 win against Olympique de Marseille on matchday five. Much of their early success can be attributed to the formidable defensive partnership of Koscielny and Per Mertesacker. "We communicate a lot. We know each other well and talk on and off the pitch. This season has gone really well even though we haven't had too many clean sheets," said the 28-year-old.
"I don't think much has changed this season, but we understand each other more and there is a good atmosphere off the pitch," the French international added. "We need to give everything and work as a team. We are all pulling in the same direction and I hope it continues like this because we have some really good players. It is up to us to maintain this winning mentality."
