Club Atlético de Madrid attacker Adrián López has agreed terms on a three-year contract extension that ties the 25-year-old to the UEFA Champions League challengers until June 2018.

A scorer of 11 goals in 79 Liga appearances for Los Rojiblancos since moving to the Spanish capital from RC Deportivo la Coruña in 2011, Adrián declared himself "extremely happy" after penning his new deal at club headquarters. "Continuing here has always been my main objective," the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship winner with Spain said. "This team is spectacular and my desire is to play to my maximum ability in order to help us continue on our current path."

Having already won UEFA Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and Copa del Rey honours with Atlético, Adrián will now be keen to help his side advance through the UEFA Champions League with AC Milan the next challenge facing Diego Simeone's charges in the round of 16.
