AS Monaco FC have added depth to their midfield options with the signing of the Stade Rennais FC teenager Tiémoué Bakayoko for a fee believed to be in the region of €8m.
The 19-year-old has joined on a five-year contract after an impressive breakthrough season with Rennes, for whom he made 28 appearances in all competitions in 2013/14. A defensive midfielder, he strengthens a Monaco squad preparing for their first UEFA Champions League group stage campaign since 2004/05.
Bakayoko, who turns 20 next month, said: "I am going to discover a new club. Monaco are a club going places in French and world football so this is obviously a good thing. It's a new challenge and I think I am ready for it."
