FC Porto beat LOSC Lille 2-0 to go through 3-0 overall and earn a 19th group campaign
"Everyone played marvellously," said Porto coach Julen Lopetegui
René Girard conceded that Porto were superior and rued going behind just after the break

Julen Lopetegui, Porto coach
It's quite impressive, what we achieved against these very good opponents over these two games. Everyone played marvellously. We still need to improve a lot. I always try to help; the [half-time] break was great for us because I can't be heard on the pitch sometimes.

We started the game well but then lost too much possession. We played very well in the second half, [Yacine] Brahimi's goal helped us a lot. We started the second period thinking we should and would score.

We are very happy to be in that four-team league of the teams that have qualified for the group stage of the Champions League 19 times [with Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona and Manchester United FC]: happy for the city, for the fans, for the team.

Yacine Brahimi, Porto midfielder
It was a very important match for us because it would allow us to qualify for the Champions League. Today we won and we have worked a lot in pre-season to reach this moment in the best possible way. Today's triumph will live long in our memories.

We have been working a lot with our new coach for the past two or three months. All the players in the team feel great and there's a lot of unity in our group. That's the most important thing and I hope we can enjoy a very successful season.

Now we are in Champions League and to tell you the truth I'm not worried about the draw. We know that the best teams of the world are there and we will have to work very hard to be at the top of our game when the time comes. We will try to do our best.

René Girard, LOSC coach
Yes, FC Porto are deserved winners. They had a great game. There is not much to say. They have definitely deserve to qualify. We were pressured for 15 minutes, then we played just like we wanted for 20, but we had bad luck in conceding early in the second half. We were already expecting a strong Porto side. We didn't have any chance in physical terms. Now we just look ahead.

Marcos Lopes, LOSC forward
we knew we had a very hard task and everybody saw that Porto were better than us. We couldn't play our game and they deserved to win. Porto have more experience than us when it comes to European competitions, that's a fact. Having said that, they also had more quality. They had more of everything when compared to us. They played more like a team than us and we were not able to play our own game in the two matches. When that happens it is hard and now all we can do is congratulate Porto and wish them good luck.

For a club like LOSC it is already very good to be in the Europa League and now we will give everything in order to succeed. First we will aim to get past the group stage and than we will see what happens.
