Kompany bemoans City's slow start

Captain Vincent Kompany told UEFA.com that Manchester City FC's first-half showing against FC Barcelona was "poor", but he believes: "We have given ourselves hope."

City's Kompany downbeat

Captain Vincent Kompany had no doubt what had cost Manchester City FC in the first leg of their round of 16 tie with FC Barcelona, telling UEFA.com: "The way we played in the first half just wasn't like us and that was disappointing."

Hart still hoping

Sergio Agüero's second-half strike at least gave the English champions something to cling onto at the Camp Nou, however, Kompany admitting: "If you look at how poor we were in the first half, you can say that we have given ourselves hope."

That glimmer would have been extinguished had Joe Hart not saved Lionel Messi's stoppage-time penalty, the goalkeeper saying: "We go to the Nou Camp only one goal behind. Barcelona were very sharp; we managed to regroup in the second half and got right back into the game when Sergio scored."
