Fernando Torres came off the bench to convert the penalty which sent Club Atlético de Madrid into the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals and the one-time youth product said the spirit of the team tonight was "the spirit I learned when I was a kid".
Atlético began the second leg 1-0 down to Bayer 04 Leverkusen but wiped out that deificit and forced a penalty shoot-out in which substitute Torres converted the last home kick to make it 3-2. With the club soon to leave the Vicente Calderón, Torres said: "Every night here is special and a night like this should be remembered for a long time."
