Picking your last Fantasy team of the UEFA Champions League season should be a relatively straightforward process, with only two sides to choose from and just 11 players required – yet in practice it could be anything but simple.
FC Barcelona are many people's favourites to triumph in Berlin but, given they ousted holders Real Madrid CF in the semi-finals, don't write off Juventus yet – my final team selection is likely to reflect that uncertainty. I currently have a combined six players from Barça and Juve in my starting XI so, with six free transfers, I've got plenty of options.
Also, having had the foresight to keep some of my cheaper players from earlier rounds – specifically Arsenal FC's Héctor Bellerín (€3.5m) and Juve's third-choice goalkeeper Rubinho (€3.0m) – gives me some spare funds to play with.
In goal it's a straight choice between Marc-André ter Stegen and Gianluigi Buffon, and I'll plump for the former, who was also my No1 for the semi-finals.
I already have Daniel Alves and Stephan Lichtsteiner in defence so will have to replace at least one of Álvaro Arbeloa and Rafinha depending on whether I want to play three or four at the back. Barcelona look the more likely to keep a clean sheet to me, so I'll bring in Javier Mascherano (€6.0m) and switch to a back three.
That means my favoured 3-4-3 formation will come into force, so I need three new midfielders, with only Ivan Rakitić retained – Toni Kroos, Thiago Alcántara and Isco are out, generating €23.5m for their replacements. The top-scoring midfielders are divided equally between Juventus and Barcelona, so I'll follow the same pattern. Sergio Busquets joins club-mate Rakitić, with Juve represented by Paul Pogba and either Arturo Vidal or Claudio Marchisio – I currently favour the Chilean but that could change.
Up front the decisions are pretty simple. I doubt I'll be alone in sticking with Lionel Messi, while Álvaro Morata keeps his place after scoring in each leg of the semis. Cristiano Ronaldo has netted me plenty of points this season but his campaign is over and I'll go for Neymar as his replacement. Choosing Messi as captain won't win me any points for originality, but with goals in both his UEFA Champions League finals so far, he's a man for the big occasion.
That would mean fielding seven Barcelona players to Juve's four, so I guess I'm favouring the Spanish champions too! Good luck to all of you for the final – and be sure to follow me on Twitter for any last-minute team news.
