Arsenal FC bounced back into contention in Group G with a 2-0 win against FC Bayern München on matchday three and now travel to Bavaria, where they are unbeaten in their last two visits.

• Bayern lead the way in the section with six points, three more than the Gunners.

Previous meetings
• Arsenal drew 1-1 at Fußball Arena München in the 2013/14 round of 16 second leg when Lukas Podolski, returning to his former club, equalised within two minutes of Bastian Schweinsteiger putting the hosts ahead. Arsenal went out of the competition having lost 2-0 at home, with Thomas Müller on the scoresheet.

• The lineups in Munich on 11 March 2014 were:
Bayern: Neuer, Lahm, Javi Martínez, Dante, Alaba, Robben, Schweinsteiger, Thiago Alcántara, Ribéry (Müller 85), Götze (Kroos 59), Mandžukić.
Arsenal:
Fabiański, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Arteta (Gnabry 77), Özil (Rosický 46), Cazorla, Podolski, Oxlade-Chamberlain (Flamini 84), Giroud.

• At the same stage the previous season the Gunners won 2-0 in Germany, Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscelny on target. Again it was the cue for their exit on away goals having lost 3-1 at home where Müller also scored.

• The other two meetings in Bavaria, in the 2004/05 round of 16 and the 2000/01 second group stage, both resulted in Bayern wins.

Match background

Bayern
• This is Bayern's 16th meeting with English opponents in the last five seasons. They have won the last two such home games but previously had not prevailed in four in Bavaria, including the 2012 final defeat on penalties by Chelsea FC.

• Bayern's overall home record against English teams is W12 D6 L3.

• The German title holders started their 19th group stage campaign by scoring eight goals without reply in their first two fixtures, winning 3-0 at Olympiacos FC and 5-0 at home to GNK Dinamo Zagreb.

• Last term, Bayern reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for the fourth time in a row, winning all six games in Munich.

• Josep Guardiola's charges scored 22 goals in their six home games. They beat FC Shakhtar Donetsk 7-0 in the round of 16, FC Porto 6-1 in the quarter-finals and FC Barcelona 3-2 in the semi-final but bowed out having lost 3-0 away.

Arsenal
• This is the fifth season in a row that the Gunners have been paired with German opposition in the group stage.

• Arsenal's 2-0 defeat at Borussia Dortmund on matchday one last season was their first in seven visits to Germany (three of which were won). Their record against German clubs away from home is W5 D5 L6; overall it is W16 D6 L11.

• Arsenal won their other three away games in last season's competition, but bowed out in the round of 16 for the fifth year in a row. A 3-1 home defeat by AS Monaco FC did the damage, a 2-0 away win not enough to prevent an away-goals defeat.

• The Gunners' 18th successive group stage campaign began with a 2-1 defeat at Dinamo Zagreb, a second loss following in London two weeks later when Olympiacos won 3-2.

• Play-offs included, Arsène Wenger's side have won seven and lost three of their last 12 away fixtures in the UEFA Champions League.
