"No matter who plays [for us] at the moment, the team wins," coach Laurent Blanc said on Wednesday after Paris Saint-Germain stretched their run of victories to 12 matches, surpassing a club record set in 2013/14.
At the same time, a few hundred kilometres away in Italy, Juventus were brushing aside Internazionale Milano to make it nine successive wins for them on all fronts – memories of their early-season struggles become ever more distant.
With the business end of the UEFA Champions League coming up fast, several contenders seem to have struck a rich vein of form. Indeed, the four longest ongoing sequences of victories in all competitions belong to clubs with one eye on the round of 16.
