Porto 1-1 Roma
Thomas Vermaelen was sent off 41 minutes into his Roma debut for two bookable offences. Porto made their numerical superiority count, equalising from the spot through André Silva.

Villarreal 1-2 Monaco
Fabinho's third-minute penalty – the quickest goal of the night – put the visitors in front, Pato's header before the break levelling things up. Bernardo Silva restored the Ligue 1 side's advantage with a wonderful individual effort.

Dundalk 0-2 Legia
Nemanja Nikolić's 56th-minute penalty, his fifth goal in this season's competition, broke the deadlock in Dublin. Aleksandar Prijovic scored with virtually the last kick to increase the scale of Dundalk's task next week.

Ludogorets 2-0 Plzeň
Cosmin Moţi, centre-back turned goalkeeper in Ludogorets' shoot-out triumph over Steaua București at this stage two years ago, converted a 51st-minute spot kick for Georgi Dermendzhiev's men. Virgil Misidjan's tidy finish doubled the lead.

Celtic 5-2 Hapoel Beer-Sheva
Two first-half goals by Leigh Griffiths, one a free-kick, had Celtic three up at half-time. Beer-Sheva, however, struck twice in three minutes before the hour, the second a fierce low drive by captain Maor Melikson. Moussa Dembele and Scott Brown added to the Hoops tally in the last 18 minutes.

Tuesday's first legs
Steaua 0-5 Manchester City
Young Boys 1-3 Mönchengladbach
Ajax 1-1 Rostov
Dinamo Zagreb 1-1 Salzburg
København 1-0 APOEL
