Villarreal halt Madrid run, Atlético draw at Barcelona

Villarreal prevented Real Madrid from breaking the Liga record for consecutive wins on a busy night that saw Arjen Robben score on his return and Atlético draw with Barcelona.

Lausanne 1-2 Basel (Margiotta 36; Bjarnason 67, Balanta 90+3)
Éder Balanta's last-gasp intervention maintained Basel's 100% start to the Swiss Super League season. It came three minutes after Lausanne's Xavier Margairaz was shown a straight red card. Urs Fischer's charges are 11 points clear of second-placed Young Boys after only eight games.

Genoa 0-0 Napoli
Napoli's four-match winning streak came to an end in north-west Italy. The Partenopei fall to second in Serie A, behind Juventus.

1-1 Atlético Madrid (Rakitić 41; Correa 61)
Ivan Rakitić's glancing header from a teasing Andrés Iniesta cross was cancelled out by Ángel Correa, who levelled things up less than a minute after coming on. Lionel Messi had hobbled off with a groin injury moments earlier. He has been ruled out for three weeks.

Swansea City 1-2 Manchester City (Sigurdsson 90; Clichy 49, García 68)
Gäel Clichy's first goal since 30 November 2014 set League Cup holders City en route to their ninth victory in as many fixtures under Josep Guardiola, whose team will visit Manchester United in the fourth round next month. City return to Swansea in the Premier League on Saturday.

RB Leipzig 1-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach (Werner 6; Johnson 84)
Fabian Johnson's late strike salvaged Gladbach a point, sparing the Foals a third straight away reverse in all competitions.

Celtic 2-0 Alloa Athletic (Forrest 83, Dembélé 90)
James Forrest broke the resistance of third-tier Alloa as Celtic were made to work for a place in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals, where they could play city rivals Rangers.

Bayern München 3-0 Hertha Berlin (Ribéry 16, Thiago Alcántara 68, Robben 72)
Fit again after aggravating a groin injury in pre-season, Arjen Robben came off the bench to score on his first outing for Bayern since 5 March. His goal sealed the Bavarians' fourth consecutive Bundesliga win under Carlo Ancelotti.

Barcelona 1-1 Atlético Madrid (Rakitić 41; Correa 61)
Just on for Kevin Gameiro, Correa scored with a shot in off Marc-André ter Stegen's right-hand post after a slip on the edge of the box by Javier Mascherano.

Dinamo Moskva 4-0 Rostov (Rykov 6, Gueye og 18, Markelov 45, Temnikov 90)
A Rostov side comprised largely of reserves was soundly beaten by first division leaders Dinamo in the last 32 of the Russian Cup. Rostov have lost four of their last five games.

PSV Eindhoven 4-0 Roda (Pröpper 25 60, Pereiro 34, Narsingh 77)
PSV ended a run of two successive 1-0 defeats with an emphatic performance in the last 64 of the Dutch Cup. It is already their third 4-0 victory of the campaign.

Nice 4-0 Monaco (Baysse 17, Balotelli 30 68, Pléa 86)
Monaco missed the chance to reclaim top spot from Paris Saint-Germain after this setback, their first of the 2016/17 Ligue 1 season, in the Côte d'Azur derby. The visitors had Tiémoué Bakayoko dismissed late on.

Bayer Leverkusen 0-0 Augsburg
Leverkusen might have claimed maximum points had Charles Aránguiz not missed a 72nd-minute penalty.

Yenisey Krasnoyarsk 2-1 CSKA Moskva (Chernov 44, Lomakin 83; Milanov 58)
A second-string CSKA side succumbed to first division opposition in the last 32 of the Russian Cup. Defender Nikita Chernov, on loan from CSKA, opened the scoring against his parent club.

Tottenham Hotspur 5-0 Gillingham (Eriksen 31 48, Janssen 50, Onomah 65, Lamela 68)
Vincent Janssen and academy product Josh Onomah registered their first goals for Spurs in this comfortable English League Cup third round victory. Tottenham face Liverpool in the last 16.

Real Madrid 1-1 Villarreal (Ramos 48; Bruno Soriano 45+1pen)
Sergio Ramos made amends for handling in the penalty area before the break by equalising with a header from a James Rodríguez corner. Villarreal held firm thereafter, however, denying the European champions what would have been a Liga record 17th successive win.

Randers 2-2 København (Pourie 41, Marxen 57; Santander 19 78)
Federico Santander's second of the game extended FCK's unbeaten run to 19 matches, a sequence dating back to 22 May.

Juventus 4-0 Cagliari (Rugani 14, Higuaín 33, Alves 39, Ceppitelli og 83)
First goals in Juventus colours for Daniele Rugani and Dani Alves helped the Bianconeri bounce back from their weekend loss to Internazionale Milano.

Lyon 5-1 Montpellier (Fekir 36pen 57, Tolisso 42 71, Cornet 75; Sanson 4)
Leading 1-0, Montpellier had Morgan Poaty sent off after only eight minutes. It went downhill from there as Lyon ran out comfortable winners, Nabil Fekir scoring his first goals in almost 13 months.
