Arsenal FC will be without Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for around three months after the midfielder sustained a knee injury on the opening day of the Premier League season.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, who turned 20 last Thursday, was withdrawn at half-time during the north London club's defeat against Aston Villa FC on Saturday. Manager Arsène Wenger revealed ahead of his side's UEFA Champions League play-off opener against Fenerbahçe SK on Wednesday that the former Southampton FC player will be "out for a while with a knee problem".
Oxlade-Chamberlain later confirmed on his official Twitter account that he would miss the opening stages of the season. "Gutted I'm injured so early in the season," he said. "But I'm going to be working hard to hopefully be back playing in three months. Thanks for all your support."
The participation of Fenerbahçe SK in the competition is subject to pending disciplinary and CAS proceedings.
