Bulgarian champions PFC Ludogorets Razgrad have parted company with coach Ivaylo Petev.

Having guided Ludogorets to successive league titles, the Bulgarian Cup and Super Cup in 2012, Petev departs after a 1-0 defeat by Lyubimets 2007 on the opening day of the season. His side had also lost this season's Super Cup, going down to a 6-5 reverse on penalties against PFC Beroe Stara Zagora. On Wednesday, Ludogorets were beaten 2-1 by ŠK Slovan Bratislava in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League second qualifying round tie. Assistant coach Georgi Dermendzhiev will take charge for next week's return.

"I spent three fantastic years at Ludogorets, during which time the team was promoted to the top flight for the first time, won two league titles, the Bulgarian Cup and Super Cup," said Petev. "I am happy to have been part of this successful project. I am proud of what we have achieved here and I would like to thank the fans for their support. I wish Ludogorets good luck against Slovan on Wednesday."
