After completing deals for Robert Lewandowski and Sebastian Rode, FC Bayern München have moved into the transfer market again to sign full-back Juan Bernat from Valencia CF on a contract running until 2019.

The 21-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, has cost the German champions a reported €10m. "Bernat is an extraordinary young player who we've been watching for a long time," said Bayern sporting director Matthias Sammer. "He is quick, good in the challenge and positive going forward. We are sure we've made a very good investment."

Bernat made 51 Liga appearances for Valencia after rising through the ranks in 2011 and featured in the Spain squad that triumphed at the 2012 UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Estonia.

"FC Bayern are one of the greatest clubs in the world," said Valencia-born Bernat. "I'm delighted to to play alongside [Philipp] Lahm, [Manuel] Neuer, [Bastian] Schweinsteiger, [Arjen] Robben and [Franck] Ribéry and to have [Josep] Guardiola as my coach."
