Manchester City FC have signed centre-back Eliaquim Mangala from FC Porto for a reported €40.1m, with the Dragons bringing in FC Rubin Kazan's Iván Marcano as a replacement.
French international Mangala, 23, has penned a five-year contract with the Premier League champions and will be reunited with his former Porto team-mate Fernando, who made the same move earlier this summer.
The ex R. Standard de Liège defender – a winner of two Liga titles in three seasons in Portugal – told the City website: "The fact Fernando is here is better because I played with him at Porto, but there are also other players I know like [Bacary] Sagna, [Gaël] Clichy and [Samir] Nasri."
His spot in the Porto back line will be filled by Marcano, the 27-year-old arriving from Rubin for an undisclosed fee. In agreeing a deal running until 2018, he becomes the sixth Spaniard to join the Dragons this summer following the acquisition of goalkeeper Andrés Fernández, full-back José Angél, midfielder Óliver Torres and forwards Cristian Tello and Adrián López.
"I know Porto are one of the best clubs in Europe," said the one-time Real Racing Club, Villarreal CF, Getafe CF and Olympiacos FC player. "I know what awaits me and I am ready to help the team win more trophies."
Porto start their UEFA Champions League campaign in the play-offs against LOSC Lille, with City entering at the group stage.
