Long talks
The 31-year-old was instrumental in Bremen's domestic double success last season, and after lengthy negotiations the club have finally secured the midfield player's signature on a new contract until 2007.
'Best in Bundesliga'
"Johan Micoud has signed a contract tying him to the club until the summer of 2007," Bremen sporting director Klaus Allofs said. "We consider him to be the best midfielder in the Bundesliga and a vital player for the team. We are delighted to have tied him to the club for the next few years."
Free transfer
Micoud joined Bremen on a free transfer from Parma FC two years ago and has since made 60 appearances, scored at a rate of a goal every four games. He has also been capped 17 times by France but missed out on selection for UEFA EURO 2004™.
