Prandelli poised for Roma role

AS Roma have appointed Parma AC's Cesare Prandelli as their new coach to replace Fabio Capello.

AS Roma have appointed Cesare Prandelli as their new coach after Fabio Capello decided to join Juventus FC on Friday.

Three-year deal
Prandelli, who led Parma AC to an unexpected fifth position in the Italian top flight despite financial troubles, has agreed a three-year contract with the Giallorossi who finished second in Serie A behind champions AC Milan.

Rapid agreement
"We discussed the plans for next season and we immediately found an agreement for the economical details of the contract," said Roma sporting director Franco Baldini. The 46-year-old Prandelli has also coached Atalanta BC, US Lecce, Hellas-Verona FC and AC Venezia.

Defensive losses
Roma have already lost two defenders for next season as they have sold Walter Samuel to Real Madrid CF and allowed Jonathan Zebina to move to Juventus on a free transfer.
