The 30-year-old has been limited to bench duty since joining Dortmund from NEC Nijmegen last summer, but will be a much-needed reinforcement for Ajax's goalkeeping department with Bogdan Lobont having left for ACF Fiorentina and Hans Vonk due to depart in the summer. "With Dennis we are getting a vastly experienced keeper," Ajax technical director Martin van Geel said of a player who made 170 league appearances for NEC. "He will complete our trio of goalkeepers along with Maarten Stekelenburg and Kenneth Vermeer."
