ACF Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetić has been named the 2009 Montenegrin Footballer of the Year.

Vučinić second
The 20-year-old succeeds AS Roma forward Mirko Vučinić, the winner of the last three awards who finished 17 points behind Jovetić in the poll of coaches and captains in the Montenegrin top flight. "This is a good conclusion to a good year," said Jovetić. "But I hope it's only the beginning and that next year will be even better."

Career high
Jovetić scored twice in the UEFA Champions League group stage, both against Liverpool FC, as the Viola topped Group E to earn a first knockout round date with FC Bayern München. "It's a match I will never forget," he said, referring to the 2-0 victory at the Artemio Franchi in late September. "It was the best moment in my career so far. I hope there will be more goals against such big clubs in such important games. Last season we lost against Bayern in the Champions League but now we're better and more experienced and will be ready for that great challenge."

Other awards
In other awards, FK Budućnost Podgorica striker Ivan Vuković was named the best player in the Prva crnogorska, while Dejan Vukićević of FK Mogren took the coaching honours.
