Thorsten Fink's contract as FC Basel 1893 coach has been extended by two years until 2013 on the day they went top in Switzerland, as they prepare for Wednesday's Group E visit of AS Roma.

FC Basel 1893 coach Thorsten Fink has extended his contract by two years until June 2013 ahead of Wednesday's crucial visit of AS Roma.

The reigning Swiss champions announced Fink's new deal before Saturday's 3-1 win against AC Bellinzona that took them to the top of the Super League. Fink, who turned 43 on Thursday, was appointed in 2009 after the end of Christian Gross's ten-year reign and immediately led Basel to the Swiss double. Having won 3-1 at Roma two weeks ago, Basel are level with both the Italian club and CFR 1907 Cluj on three Group E points.
