Pedro joins Barcelona injury list

Suspended for FC Barcelona's quarter-final first leg at Paris Saint-Germain FC on Tuesday, Pedro Rodríguez hopes to shake off a calf injury in time for the return in Spain.

FC Barcelona are confident of having attacker Pedro Rodríguez available for their UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg at home to Paris Saint-Germain FC on 10 April despite the 25-year-old suffering a calf muscle tear.

Pedro sustained the injury to his left leg shortly after scoring Spain's winning goal during the world and European champions' 1-0 FIFA World Cup qualifying victory in France on Tuesday. He is expected to be sidelined for ten days, meaning he should be fit to face the Ligue 1 leaders at Camp Nou. Pedro was already guaranteed to miss Tuesday's first-leg encounter at the Parc des Princes through suspension.

Meanwhile, doubts persist over Jordi Alba's presence in the French capital next week after the full-back succumbed to a hamstring strain in Spain's 1-1 home draw with Finland last Friday. Injured defenders Carles Puyol (knee) and Adriano (hamstring) have already been ruled out of the quarter-final tie.
