Fresh woe for Bayern's Görlitz

News round-up: FC Bayern München right-back Andreas Görlitz is set to undergo more surgery.

FC Bayern München right-back Andreas Görlitz is facing more surgery after injuring his cartilage. The 23-year-old made just seven appearances for the German league and cup winners last season, and has only just recovered from a torn cruciate ligament. Görlitz's team-mate Mehmet Scholl is also on the sidelines, after undergoing knee surgery which will require four weeks' rest.

Staying in the Bundesliga, Hertha BSC Berllin have signed Dutch striker Ellery Cairo from relegated SC Freiburg. The 26-year-old product of the Feyenoord youth academy has joined the German side on a two-year contract, with the option for a further two years.

1. FSV Mainz 05 strikers Christoph Teinert and Claudius Weber have left the club for loan spells at lower league clubs after failing to establish themselves with the Bundesliga outfit. Teinert has signed for second division club SpVgg Unterhaching on a two-season loan deal, while Weber will represent SV Wehen in the third division in 2005/06.

RBC Roosendaal defender José Fortes Rodriquez will miss the remainder of the Eredivisie club's promotion/relegation play-off campaign, as well as the first four games of next season, after being suspended for six matches. The 33-year-old Spaniard was dismissed against FC Volendam on Saturday for striking Jeroen Ketting, while he has also received a further one-game suspension after receiving a second yellow card of the play-off tournament in Tuesday's goalless draw against Stormvogels/Telstar.

Newly-promoted Ligue 1 side ES Troyes Aube Champagne have extended the loan deal of French Under-21 striker Sébastien Grax from AS Monaco FC for a further year. The 20-year-old scored 16 Ligue 2 goals last season.

Also in France, RC Lens have allowed Lesly Malouda to join relegated Ligue 1 side FC Istres for one year, in order to gain more regular first-team football. The club have also announced that they intend to take up the €3m option to sign Alou Diarra on a permanent basis from Liverpool FC after the French international spent last season on loan at the Stade Félix Bollaert.

OGC Nice defender José Cobos has called time on his playing career and will join the French club's coaching staff. Cobos was part of the Paris Saint-Germain FC that lifted the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1996, and has spent the last six seasons with Nice.

Across the Channel, Leicester City FC, who play in England's second tier, have completed the signing of Momo Sylla from Celtic FC on a three-year contract. The versatile Guinea international midfield player made 57 appearances for Celtic following his move from St Johnstone FC three years ago.

Newcastle United FC defender Peter Ramage has signed a new three-year contract with the club. The 21-year-old made just five appearances for the English Premiership last season, but is rated highly by manager Graeme Souness.

Turkish Superleague side Konyaspor have appointed Aykut Kocaman as their new coach on a one-year contract. Kocaman, who left Malatyaspor in March this year, replaces Bosnian coach Safet Susic who decided not to extend his contract with the club.

In Portugal, CF Belenenses Oshave completed the double signing of Silas and Sandro Gaúcho. Silas joins on loan from England's Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, having spent last season with SC Marítimo, while Gaúcho signs on a free transfer from SC Beira-Mar.

Livingston FC pair Jason Dair and Richard Brittain have agreed one-year contract extensions with the Scottish Premier League side. Dair, 30, can play in defence or midfield and made 24 starts for Livingston last season, while 21-year-old midfield player Brittain made 15 appearances.

It has been another busy day in Greece, with Olympiacos CFP awarding central defender Georgios Anatolakis a two-year contract extension. Meanwhile, one day after the merger of Halkidona FC and Atromitos Athinon FC was announced, the new Atromitos Athinon club have awarded contract extensions to six Halkidona players. Christos Mikes, Markos Dimos, Evangelos Dangas and captain Georgios Zaharopoulos have both agreed new one-year deals, the latter two with the option for a further season, while defenders Ioannis Katemis and Dimitrios Geladaris have both signed for two more years.

Austrian Cup winners FK Austria Wien have announced that Toni Polster is to leave the club. Austria, who defeated Vienna rivals SK Rapid Wien in the cup final this evening, leaves the post after five months following discussions with owner Frank Stronach over the club's direction.
