Impressive Kaká claims accolade

AC Milan's Brazilian international playmaker Kaká has been voted Serie A's Player of the Year for 2004.

Memorable debut
The 22-year-old topped an Italian Footballers' Association poll to beat team-mate Andriy Shevchenko and AS Roma's Francesco Totti to the award. Kaká, signed from São Paulo FC in the summer of 2003, enjoyed a memorable first season in Serie A, his ten goals in 30 games helping Milan to the league title.

Other awards
The Rossoneri's achievement in taking their 17th league title was also recognised with awards for Carlo Ancelotti as best coach and Paolo Maldini as best defender.
