The 23-year-old left-winger was linked with a number of clubs from both Italy and Spain but explained that UEFA Champions League football was a strong factor in his decision to join the Istanbul club. "I chose Galatasaray because they always compete for their league title," he said. "If I had moved to a mid-table club from another league, the possibility of playing European football would not have been open to me either."
Problem position
Left midfield proved something of a problem position for Galatasaray last term with Czech international Marek Heinz failing to meet expectations and coach Eric Gerets trying various alternatives. Carrusca, who has been at Estudiantes since 2001, will wear the No16 shirt for his new club.
