Sliema deal for Di Lello

Maltese champions Sliema Wanderers FC have signed Italian defender Mauro Di Lello on a three-year deal.

Signed in time
The former Pietà Hotspurs FC player has become the fourth foreign player on the club's books and has been signed just in time to compete in the first leg of Sliema's UEFA Champions League first qualifying round tie against Lithuanian champions FBK Kaunas at the National Stadium in Ta'Qali next Tuesday.

Fantastic news
"I feel very happy to have agree terms with Malta champions Sliema," Di Lello told uefa.com. "I have been after this deal since my contract expired with Pietà at the end of last season. I cannot ask for more - signing for last season's Maltese double winners is just fantastic.

Kaunas priority
"My immediate priority is to help Sliema qualify from the first preliminary round against Kaunas," he added. "I feel we have a strong squad enough to go through. I have met my new team mates and coach Edward Aquilina, and I must say they have really made me feel at home."
