Zaccheroni takes up Inter challenge

Following their defeat in Moscow, Internazionale FC have unveiled their new coach Alberto Zaccheroni.

Training day
The Italian side dismissed Héctor Cúper last Sunday, following a 2-2 draw with Brescia Calcio in Serie A, and put youth coach Corrado Verdelli in temporary charge for the Group B match in Moscow. Today, however, the former Udinese Calcio and AC Milan coach Zaccheroni took up the reins at Inter's Pinetina training ground.

'Ambition and enthusiasm'
"It is nice to have such a positive welcome," said Zaccheroni. "Myself and president [Massimo] Moratti have the same ambitions and the same enthusiasm. Now I have to transmit these ambitions and this enthusiasm to the players.

Lifelong Inter fan
"Inter have a great squad and are capable of doing very well this season," continued the 50-year-old, who won the Scudetto with Milan in 1999 but has always been an Inter fan. "I would like to have a balanced team and bring dynamism and confidence to the players."

Tough start
Zaccheroni faces a difficult debut on Sunday when Inter take on AS Roma at the San Siro. The Nerazzurri are seven points behind joint Serie A leaders Juventus FC and Milan. Despite last night's defeat by Lokomotiv, however, they top their Champions League group with six points from three games.
