Ronaldo Guiaro has signed a two-year contract extension with Besiktas JK.
Crucial figure
The Brazilian defender's current deal was due to expire at the end of this season but a string of impressive performances and a crucial role in last season Turkish Super League win persuaded the Besiktas board to offer the 29-year-old a new contract.
'Good professional'
"The agreement between Ronaldo and us is very important," said Besiktas vice-president Hüsnü Güreli. "He is a good professional both on and off the pitch. During our negotiations he told us he was happy at Besiktas and he plans to end his playing career at our club."
'Pleasure from playing'
The defender was equally delighted, saying: "During my three years at this club, I have experienced great joy, in which my wife shares. Day by day I realise I play for a big club. I have decided to stay not just for the money but also for the pleasure I get from playing here."
Constant presence
Ronaldo has been a remarkably consistent performer for Besiktas, scoring ten goals in 90 matches for the Istanbul side. In a little over two seasons with the club, he has appeared in 71 out of a possible 76 league games.
