'Rivaldo is staying'
Milan announced on Friday that the Brazilian FIFA World Cup winner would be leaving the San Siro on a free transfer following his failure to hold down a place in Carlo Ancelotti's side. However, after a meeting with Rivaldo today, Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said: "Rivaldo is staying at Milan and tomorrow will leave with the squad for Vigo."
Contract until 2005
The 31-year-old's contract with the European champions runs until summer 2005 but only yesterday he suggested his lack of first-team football was likely to prompt a move away from Milan. "I'm flattered by their desire to keep hold of me but it is difficult," he told the club's website. "I want to play consistently and to have missed out on big Milan games has been a big disappointment for me."
