AFC Ajax have reacted to the sale of Cristian Chivu by snapping up French defender Julien Escudé.
The former French Under-21 international has agreed a four-year deal with the Eredivisie team and will move to the Amsterdam ArenA for an undisclosed fee. The two clubs concluded transfer negotiations today.
'A good feeling'
Escudé, who trained with his new team-mates this morning, said: "I had a good feeling [about Ajax]. It is a club and a country which have preserved their identity down the years, and I like that."
The 23-year-old can play either at full-back or centre-half and will reinforce an Ajax defence weakened by the sale of Cristian Chivu to AS Roma. Previously with AS Cannes, Escudé made 111 appearances in four seasons with Rennes. Last year he was linked with a move to Manchester United FC.
