Trophies wanted
The 28-year-old has left Sporting Clube de Portugal to seal a three-year contract with the Istanbul club, who will play in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round. "I know I have signed for a big club," said César. "I want to have plenty of success here."
International recognition
The right-back is vastly experienced and has played three times for his country. He started his career with SC Internacional before a first move abroad to Real Madrid CF in the 1996/97 season. However, after failing to make the breakthrough in Spain, César returned home to play for CR Vasco da Gama, SC Corinthians Paulista and Botafogo FR.
Title triumph
César then transferred to Sporting and helped the Lisbon club win two league titles in four seasons, in 1999/00 and 2001/02. At Galatasaray he will link up with two other new recruits, defenders Orhan Ak and Ömer Erdogan.
