Article body
Juventus FC striker Marco Di Vaio has been given the all clear after suffering a head injury in yesterday's UEFA Champions League match against Newcastle United FC.
Clash of heads
The Italian international was carried off on a stretcher after a clash of heads with Newcastle defender Andy O'Brien and taken by ambulance to a local hospital. He was kept in overnight for observation but the club doctor said today there was no lasting damage.
Rest needed
"Marco spent the evening calmly at the hospital," said Dr Fabrizio Tencone. "He was fine this morning and came out to meet his family. He needs seven days of absolute rest and then he can recommence normal activity."
'I am fine'
Di Vaio added: "I am fine and I want to let all those people who were worried about me know that. I have been able to see the incident on television and I have to say it looked quite dramatic and I can understand how my family, friends and the supporters could be worried. I had another scan this morning which was also negative."
Top of group
Juventus lead Group E with seven points from three games after Alessandro Del Piero scored twice in the second half in the 2-0 win against the English club. Di Vaio should be back in action by Matchday Four on 23 October, the return against Newcastle.
