Mifsud receives top award

Hibernians FC's Adrian Mifsud received the Maltese Footballer of the Year award on Friday.

In a special awards ceremony by the Malta Football Association (MFA) today, Hibernians FC's prolific striker Adrian Mifsud was presented with the coveted Footballer of the Year bronze statuette.

Footballer of the Year
Dr Joseph Mifsud, president of the MFA, gave the award to the young Hibernians and Maltese international striker, who confirmed his true potential during last season in which he managed to score 27 goals, finishing second behind Danilo Doncic of Sliema Wanderers FC, who scored a total of 32 goals.

Happy anniversary
His goals paved the way for Hibernians' ninth Premier League title, seven years after their last success - and a perfect way to celebrate the club's 80th anniversary.

'Memorable season'
"I am over the moon. I am delighted to have won this accolade at the end of a memorable season for my club Hibernians during which I also played my best football of my career," Mifsud said after being presented with the award.

Champions League test
Hibernians' reward for winning the title last season is a first round qualifying tie against FAI National League champions Shelbourne FC on 17th and 24th July in the UEFA Champions League.
