Handed the reins
Speaking at an afternoon press conference on Thursday, Kresic said the offer to take over was too good to turn down. “I was hoping to take a year out but this offer was very interesting," he added. "I always look on the positive side. Mallorca are a club on the up. You have to start from humble origins. I consider myself a good coach although I don’t have a big name like others.”
Two assistants
Kresic, 55, brings two assistants with him to Mallorca: physical trainer Zosimo San Román and assistant coach Diego Quinteros. He has 15 years’ experience in Spain, his previous clubs including Real Betis Balompié, Real Valladolid.
Won promotion
Kresic received considerable praise in Spain for the job he did at Las Palmas. After winning promotion, they finished eleventh last season but the club did not want to renew his contract.
Defeat by Schalke
German coach Krauss was relieved of his duties with the island club after their 4-0 home defeat by FC Schalke 04 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
