UCL Fantasy Football Matchday 2: Tuesday lessons

Despite being the most highly-selected player in the game, Robert Lewandowski disappointed throngs of #UCLfantasy managers once more by failing to register an attacking return in Bayern’s 2-1 win away at Lokomotiv Moskva, but those who captained him will have the luxury of switching the armband to a player featuring on Wednesday, so all is not lost!

Real Madrid snatched a draw from two goals down against Mönchengladbach and their unlikely hero was none other than Casemiro, who registered a goal and an assist as the match finished 2-2. The Brazilian has been a popular pick for #UCLfantasy managers but predominantly for his ball-winning abilities and he has handsomely rewarded those owners by making 24 ball recoveries over the course of his first two games. The fact that he has added attacking returns to his repertoire will only increase his appeal going forward.

A number of affordable forwards found the net on Tuesday evening and #UCLfantasy managers may have their eye on them ahead of Matchday 3. Ajax youngster Lassina Traoré – priced at just €5.0m – caught the eye with a stunning five goals and three assists in the Eredivisie over the weekend and the 19-year-old backed that up with a goal against Atalanta, while Mönchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram, who is selected by just 1% of Fantasy managers at present, scored twice against Real Madrid and now faces a double header against Shakhtar Donetsk in Matchdays 3 and 4.

Finally, Atalanta’s Duván Zapata proved his credentials once again with a double of his own and, despite being the highest scoring forward in terms of #UCLfantasy points, he still offers differential value with an ownership of just 5%.
