UCL Fantasy Football: The Scout squad

The Scout's final selection for the group stage relies on both players with something to aim for, and rotation picks.

UCL Fantasy Football: The Scout squad

With rotation always a concern on Matchday 6, the Scout's final squad of the group stage relies mainly on players whose teams' fates are still to be determined, although the prospect of some new faces getting a chance always creates the opportunity for a couple of bargain inclusions.

Pick your Fantasy squad for Matchday 6

Goalkeepers

Highlights (2 mins): İstanbul Başakşehir 0-2 Paris

Three teams are in contention for the two qualifying places in Group H, with Paris Saint-Germain at home to eliminated İstanbul Başakşehir. Keylor Navas (€5.5m) has 21 points to date, including two clean sheets – one in Turkey on Matchday 2 – and is the standout pick for Tuesday. Should the Costa Rican not deliver, Wednesday presents a couple of rotation possibilities; Group D winners Liverpool are at winless Midtjylland and, while Caoimhin Kelleher is an enticing budget option priced at just €3.8m, Bayern München's Alexander Nübel (€4.2m) gets the nod as he's in line to deputise for Manuel Neuer as the holders, already secure in first place in Group A, welcome Lokomotiv Moskva to Germany.

Defenders

Highlights: Atalanta 1-1 Midtjylland (2 mins)

A couple of rotation options feature among the squad's five defenders too, where – with an eye on more attacking picks – saving money is the order of the day. Paris are also represented here, with Abdou Diallo (€4.2m) favoured among a number of attractive options, while Atalanta's Cristian Romero (€4.9m) is a mandatory selection for the Italian side's Group D decider at Ajax; not only is he the joint highest scorer in the game overall with 40 points but almost half of those (18) have come via ball recoveries, meaning he's likely to once again pick up a decent total regardless of the outcome in Amsterdam. Olympiacos have conceded only two goals in their nine home games in all competitions this season, keeping seven clean sheets; Rafinha (€4.5m) comes in for the home match against Porto. Finally, Manchester City (Group C) and Chelsea (E) are already assured of top spot in their respective sections, meaning Oleksandar Zinchenko (€4.6m) and César Azpiliceuta (€4.9m) are in line for a run-out at home to Marseille and Krasnodar respectively.

Midfielders

Highlights: Juventus 3-0 Dynamo Kyiv (2 mins)

There's also a Manchester City rotation selection among the midfield five, with Phil Foden (€7.1m) likely to start against Marseille – the 20-year-old has a goal and assist among the 24 points he's collected in #UCLfantasy this term. Across the city, Bruno Fernandes (€9.5m) is certain to play a central role as Manchester United travel to Leipzig looking to snare one of those two Group H qualifying berths; the Portuguese playmaker has been involved in 36 goals in his 38 United appearances (22 goals, 14 assists). Three assists in his last two UEFA Champions League outings – and four in the competition this autumn – make Juan Cuadrado (€6.7m) an attractive option despite the fact his Juventus side are at Barcelona this week; Atlético Madrid's Marcos Llorente (€6.5m) has a goal and three assists in this season's competition, in addition to his four Liga strikes, and with the Spanish leaders facing a decisive fixture at Salzburg as they target second place in Group A, he could have a key part to play. The midfield is rounded off by Zenit's Wílmar Barrios (€4.5m); other options, such as Club Brugge's Charles De Ketelaere, are available for a similar price but the Zenit man's 13 points from ball recoveries give him the edge.

Forwards

Highlights: Mönchengladbach 2-3 Inter (2 mins)

A rarity up front, with Erling Braut Haaland not featuring in the Scout squad for the second time this season – the Norwegian has missed Dortmund's last two games and, with his side already through to the round of 16, is too much of a gamble. One of Haaland's Group F rivals is represented, however – Ciro Immobile (€10.5m) has scored in his last eight club matches and is sure to spearhead Lazio's attack in their showdown with Club Brugge as the pair battle to join Dortmund in the knockout phase. Paris's need for three points at home to İstanbul Başakşehir makes Neymar (€11.4m) an automatic inclusion – 17 of the Brazilian's 22 points have come in the last two group games, including 11 on Matchday 5 – while Inter's Romelu Lukaku (€10.8m) scored ten points on Matchday 1 and got back into the groove with nine last week; that's perfect timing with his team requiring three points at home to Shakhtar Donetsk to have any hope of going through from Group B.
