Champions League Fantasy Football: Forwards

Some big names drew a blank on Matchday 7, but Sébastien Haller and Kylian Mbappé were among the forwards who found the net again.

Champions League Fantasy Football: Forwards

UEFA.com picks out a selection of forwards who have the potential to bring in a flurry of points for #UCLfantasy managers on Matchday 8, presented by PlayStation.

Highlights: Benfica 2-2 Ajax

It was a mixed Matchday 7 for Ajax forward Sébastien Haller (€9.4m), who found the net at both ends of the pitch in his side's first-leg draw at Benfica. After deflecting a cross into his own net, Haller responded almost immediately by scoring at the right end, ultimately picking up four Fantasy points as Erik ten Hag's side drew 2-2 in Portugal. Although this was Haller's lowest #UCLfantasy score of the season, the Ivory Coast international still tops the scoring charts among forwards with 67 points and has a good chance of adding to that total on Matchday 8.

It would also be remiss not to highlight Haller's team-mate and fellow forward Antony (€8.1m), who has scored in each of his last two European fixtures in Amsterdam.

Highlights: Paris 1-0 Real Madrid

Only one striker managed a double-figure points haul on Matchday 7 and that was Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé (€11.0m), who got the only goal of their first leg against Real Madrid deep into added time. That goal led to the 23-year-old being named Player of the Match and him ultimately accruing a score of 11 #UCLfantasy points.

With five goals and four assists to his name during the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League, not to mention 26 Fantasy points across the last two matches, Mbappé's pace on the counterattack could potentially lead to further attacking returns as Real Madrid push players forward in the second leg against Paris in a bid to overturn the deficit.

Highlights: Salzburg 1-1 Bayern

Matchday 7 was one to forget for striker Robert Lewandowski (€12.1m) and his vast #UCLfantasy ownership, with the Bayern forward failing to find the net in the UEFA Champions League for only the second time this season.

Despite gaining just two points from the game at Salzburg, the Polish international remains the second-highest scoring #UCLfantasy forward asset with 60 points and when taking into account his five goals, two assists and 33 points over of the course of Bayern’s home group stage fixtures, the 48% of #UCLfantasy managers who have kept faith with Lewandowski have good reason for keeping the faith.

Highlights: Villarreal 1-1 Juventus

Dušan Vlahović (€9.5m) did not need long to make an impact upon European football's biggest stage. The Serbian needed just 33 seconds to get on the scoresheet in his UEFA Champions League debut on Matchday 7, the quickest goal ever from the start of a game scored by a player making his first appearance in the competition.

It did not turn out to be a winner, however, as Juventus were pegged back by Villarreal and the tie is now finely poised at 1-1. With three goals in his four Serie A appearances for the Bianconeri in addition to his strike in Spain, Vlahović looks a strong contender to make the difference in the Turin second leg.
