Highlights: Bayern 7-1 Salzburg

It will come as little surprise that Robert Lewandowski (€12.2m) topped the #UCLfantasy scoring charts on Matchday 8 following his 24-point haul for Bayern. The Polish superstar was at his devastating best against Salzburg, scoring a hat-trick within 11 minutes, following that up with an assist later in the contest. Bayern ultimately ran out 7-1 winners on the night, triumphing 8-2 on aggregate with the Player of the Match bonus further boosting Lewandowski’s Fantasy score.

The 33-year-old has now scored 12 UEFA Champions League goals this season, hitting double figures in the competition for the third time in his career, and his overall #UCLfantasy score of 84 points is unmatched. His vast ownership will once again be expecting big things on Matchday 9 as Bayern travel to Villarreal.

Highlights: Juventus 0-3 Villarreal

Lewandowski isn’t the only Bayern forward asset demanding attention, as Thomas Müller (€9.8m) is also emerging as an enticing option. Across the two legs against Salzburg, Müller registered two goals and an assist and he has now racked up 41 Fantasy points in this season's UEFA Champions League campaign, the third-highest among forwards.

Müller will be looking to maintain that form away to Villarreal, when those #UCLfantasy managers considering picking up a forward asset from the hosts should keep a close eye on Gerard Moreno (€9.0m). Injury has affected the Spaniard's UEFA Champions League output as he has only featured in four matchdays. However, Moreno has delivered an attacking return on each of those four appearances, including the Matchday 8 contest with Juventus in which he came off the bench to score in his side's 3-0 victory.

Highlights: Real Madrid 3-1 Paris

Lewandowski was not the only hat-trick scorer on Matchday 8, Karim Benzema (€10.4m) producing a remarkable three-goal haul with his third Player of the Match bonus in 2021/22 further delighting his relatively modest ownership, which currently stands at just 16%.

Benzema faces a tough Matchday 9 assignment at European champions Chelsea, but the Frenchman – who now has eight goals in this season's UEFA Champions League and 79 in the competition overall – has proved throughout his career that he can deliver against elite opposition.

Highlights: Ajax 0-1 Benfica

Liverpool boast a number of forward options on Matchday 9 against Benfica and #UCLfantasy managers will have the benefit of knowing Jürgen Klopp's starting line-up ahead of the transfer deadline. This offer a huge boost to those considering bringing in Diogo Jota (€8.4m) or Luis Díaz (€8.1m), with #UCLfantasy bosses able to wait until they are confirmed as starters before pushing through a potential transfer. However, Benfica offer an enticing forward option themselves in Darwin Núñez (€7.7m). The Uruguayan striker recorded a #UCLfantasy score of nine points on Matchday 8 after scoring the only goal away to Dutch champions Ajax, his fourth strike in this season's competition.
