Bayern München provide three players for the Scout's second squad of the season on #UCL fantasy, presented by Playstation, with Harry Kane and Leroy Sané both included after impressive Matchday 1 displays. Bruno Fernandes, Martin Ødegaard and Kieran Trippier are among a healthy Premier League contingent while a promising-looking home fixture means space for two Crvena zvezda representatives including Osman Bukari.
Goalkeepers
With clean sheets potentially a rare commodity on Matchday 2, it seems sensible to try to save funds in goal to allow investment elsewhere. With that in mind, Tuesday's selection is Yann Sommer (€4.5m), whose Inter side are at home to Benfica with the Swiss international having managed five clean sheets in his first seven Serie A outings, conceding only two goals.
The pick for Wednesday is Crvena zvezda No1 Omri Glazer (€4.5m); the Serbian champions are at home to Young Boys having conceded only one goal in their five home games in all competitions so far this season.
Defenders
The big investment among the five defenders is Kieran Trippier (€6.0m), whose Newcastle side are aiming to make it six successive clean sheets in all competitions at home to Paris Saint-Germain on Matchday 2 – although the right-back is selected for his attacking potential as much as his defensive fortitude having recorded four assists in his last two Premier League appearances. The same is true of Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries (€5.5m), who has two goals and two assists in Serie A already this season.
Victor Lindelöf (€4.5m) is selected for Manchester United's game against a Galatasaray team who have not scored in their last three matches at Old Trafford and who have lost seven of their ten games in England, including the last four. The ball recovery prowess of Robin Le Normand (€4.5m) earns him selection for Real Sociedad's trip to Salzburg, while Min-jae Kim (€5.0m) is the first of three Bayern München picks for the game at Copenhagen having also recovered six balls on Matchday 1 – worth an extra two points.
Midfielders
Kim's Bayern team-mate Leroy Sané (€9.0m) is one of three big-money selections in midfield; not only did the German international deliver 11 points on Matchday 1, he also has five Bundesliga goals to his name already in 2023/24. Martin Ødegaard (€9.0m) is in a similarly hot streak in front of goal with three for Arsenal in this season's Premier League to go with his Matchday 1 strike, while Bruno Fernandes (€9.5m), who registered seven assists on his last Champions League appearance two seasons ago and opened his 2023/24 account on Matchday 1, could prosper again at home to Galatasaray.
The midfield is completed by Rodri (€6.5m), scorer of ten points – helped by a goal and the Player of the Match award – on Matchday 1 and who should play for Manchester City at Leipzig given he is currently serving a three-match domestic suspension, and Osman Bukari (€6.0m). The Crvena zvezda midfielder scored at City in the first round of fixtures and has three Serbian Superleague goals to his name this season, all in Belgrade; indeed, his last seven league goals have all come in home matches.
Forwards
Few strikers are in hotter form than Harry Kane (€10.0m), Bayern's summer signing having scored eight goals in his first six Bundesliga games – behind only Erling Haaland in the all-time rankings – and also provided three assists. The England captain managed a goal and an assist on Matchday 1 and will look to add to that tally in Copenhagen.
João Félix (€8.0m) scored 16 points on Matchday 1 and will look for a repeat back in his native Portugal against a Porto side who have kept only one clean sheet all season. Like Félix, Julián Álvarez (€7.0m) also scored twice in the first set of games and, with five club goals in all competitions this season including one on Saturday, travels to Leipzig in good form.
