GOALKEEPERS

Despite a run of three consecutive clean sheets coming to an end, Dortmund's Gregor Kobel (€5.0m) posted his highest Fantasy score of the season on Matchday 5, his penalty save helping him reach eight points. That was a total matched only by Salzburg No1 Alexander Schlager (€4.5m), who kept Real Sociedad at bay in a goalless draw.

Ivan Provedel (€5.0m) helped Lazio keep a second successive clean sheet in the competition, the Italian side's 2-0 victory at home to Celtic confirming their place in the round of 16. Kobel is the only goalkeeper to have accumulated more Fantasy points than Provedel, who next takes on Atlético de Madrid – the team against whom he scored on Matchday 1.

Both Arsenal's David Raya (€5.0m) and Real Sociedad's Álex Remiro (€4.1m) kept a third group stage clean sheet on Matchday 5, while Leipzig's Janis Blaswich (€4.5m) delivered a rare goalkeeper assist in the defeat at Manchester City.

Highlights: Barcelona 2-1 FC Porto

DEFENDERS

The highest-owned defender on Fantasy, João Cancelo (€6.0m), recorded his biggest haul of the season so far with a clean sheet, assist and Player of the Match award giving him 14 points in Barcelona's victory at home to Porto.

The Portuguese international was not the top-scoring defender though, as the much lower-owned Lewin Blum (€4.2m) scored 16 points in Young Boys' win against Crvena zvezda, while Shakhtar Donetsk centre-back Mykola Matviyenko (€5.0m) got the only goal of the game against Antwerp, earning 15 points.

Goals were also a healthy source of points for Mario Hermoso (€5.3m), Robin Gosens (€5.0m) and Sergio Ramos (€5.4m), while Dortmund's Mats Hummels (€5.0m) continued his remarkable point-scoring consistency by making 11 ball recoveries and winning the Player of the Match award against Milan.

Highlights: Galatasaray 3-3 Man United

MIDFIELDERS

Plenty of midfielders produced big Fantasy scores, Benfica's João Mário (€7.8m) and Galatasaray's Hakim Ziyech (€6.7m) leading the way with 21 points apiece. Neither player had recorded an attacking return prior to Matchday 5, not the case for Jude Bellingham (€7.9m), who once again starred with a goal and assist in Real Madrid's late win against Napoli.

Two other English midfielders also excelled, Phil Foden (€8.0m) and Bukayo Saka (€9.7m) producing double-figure returns for Manchester City and Arsenal respectively, while Bruno Fernandes (€9.5m) scored 11 points in Manchester United's thrilling 3-3 draw with Galatasaray.

Fernandes' in-form team-mate Alejandro Garnacho (€6.3m) recorded an attacking return for the second Champions League game in a row, while Leipzig's loan star Xavi Simons (€6.8m) has now either scored or assisted in his last three Group G encounters.

Highlights: Arsenal 6-0 Lens

FORWARDS

After missing Matchday 4 through injury, Gabriel Jesus (€8.6m) made his Champions League return on Wednesday with a goal, assist and the Player of the Match award in Arsenal's emphatic win against Lens. The Brazilian has found the net in all four of his European appearances this season, and is only two points behind Erling Haaland (€11.6m), who made it five goals in his last three Champions League games with his strike against Leipzig.

Despite starting on the bench against Celtic, Lazio striker Ciro Immobile (€7.5m) made a huge impact when he did come on, scoring both goals and winning the Player of the Match award to finish on 12 points – the joint-highest score posted by a forward on Matchday 5. The highly-owned Julián Álvarez (€7.2m) also got on the scoresheet after beginning the match on the bench for Manchester City, while Real Madrid's Rodrygo (€9.1m) was on target for the third straight Champions League game.

There was disappointment for owners of premium forwards Antoine Griezmann (€10.6m), Robert Lewandowski (€10.3m) and Harry Kane (€10.1m), but Kylian Mbappé (€11.5m) came good in the final seconds of Paris's 1-1 draw with Newcastle.
