Lamine Yamal, Erling Haaland, Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane are strong candidates for the armband on Matchday 2 of #UCLfantasy, presented by Playstation.
TUESDAY 1 OCTOBER
Lamine Yamal (€7.5m) vs Young Boys (H)
The 17-year-old registered his first goal in the Champions League in Barcelona's defeat against Monaco on Matchday 1, becoming the second youngest scorer in the history of the competition. In addition to his strike from outside the box against the Ligue 1 side, Yamal has contributed three goals and five assists in Barcelona's six league games this season, and is yet to play a club game in 2024/25 without producing an attacking return. On Matchday 2 the Spanish side host Young Boys, who lost 3-0 at home to Aston Villa last time out.
Erling Haaland (€11.0m) vs Slovan Bratislava (A)
One of the few premium-priced Fantasy players who registered a blank on Matchday 1, Haaland is nevertheless an extremely strong captaincy choice for the second set of fixtures. The Manchester City forward has ten goals in his first five Premier League games this season, including two hat-tricks, and it seems inevitable that this hot streak will translate to the European stage at some point. That could happen on Matchday 2 when City travel to Slovan Bratislava, who lost 5-1 at Celtic in their Champions League opener.
Other options: Florian Wirtz (€7.5m), Sehrou Guirassy (€7.5m), Denis Undav (€7.0m)
WEDNESDAY 2 OCTOBER
Harry Kane (€10.5m) vs Aston Villa (A)
For many Fantasy managers, their Matchday 1 success largely rested on whether or not they captained Kane, whose four goals in Bayern München's record 9-2 victory over GNK Dinamo boosted him to a mammoth 21 points. Kane has 12 goals and four assists in just eight appearances for club and country this season, and his Fantasy ownership is rising rapidly. Kane produced eight goals and two assists in 12 Premier League appearances against Matchday 2 opponents Aston Villa for former club Tottenham.
Mohamed Salah (€10.0m) vs Bologna (H)
Although Liverpool's attacking options can give Fantasy managers pause for thought when selecting their players, it is not often that Salah is one of the names rotated out of the side. The Egyptian has been a mainstay so far in Arne Slot's starting line-ups and has started the season in excellent form. Salah has three goals and four assists in just five Premier Leagues appearances and recorded ten attacking returns (eight goals, two assists) during Liverpool's last Champions League campaign in 2022/23.
Other options: Luis Díaz (€7.5m), Kylian Mbappé (€11.0m), Vinícius Júnior (€11.0m)
