UEFA.com looks at five high-performing players who have been making a strong case to be included in Matchday 2 squads on #UCLfantasy, presented by Playstation.
TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD (€6.0M) – LIVERPOOL
Alexander-Arnold has often attracted attention from Fantasy managers for his attacking returns, and the Liverpool right-back obliged again on Matchday 1 with an assist in the English side's 3-1 comeback victory at AC Milan. A further assist followed against Bournemouth in the Premier League last weekend, and with Liverpool having kept their opponents out in four of their five league games this season, Alexander-Arnold offers both clean sheet and attacking potential for the Reds' Matchday 2 meeting with Bologna at Anfield.
FLORIAN WIRTZ (€7.5m) – LEVERKUSEN
Second only to four-goal Harry Kane in terms of points scored on Matchday 1, Wirtz – currently the second highest-owned player in his position – was the standout Fantasy midfielder in the opening set of fixtures as he carried his Bundesliga form into the Champions League. The Leverkusen playmaker has either scored or provided an assist in all five club starts this season – seven attacking returns in total – while he both scored and set up a goal for Germany on international duty earlier this month.
CHRISTIAN PULIŠIĆ (€7.5m) – MILAN
Facing off against Wirtz on Matchday 2 is a player who has flown under the radar in Fantasy circles so far, but if he maintains his current form then that will not be the case for much longer. Milan's United States international has scored in his last four games for club and country, including a Matchday 1 strike against Liverpool, and has also registered two assists in Serie A this season. Owned by just 2% of Fantasy managers, Pulišić could be an excellent differential midfielder on Matchday 2, when the Rossoneri go to Germany.
DENIZ UNDAV (€7.0m) – STUTTGART
Another player who found the net on Matchday 1, Undav makes a strong case to be included as a budget-friendly forward in Fantasy squads. Playing up front for a Stuttgart side who are averaging three goals per game in the Bundesliga, Undav is enjoying a rich vein of form with five goals in his last four appearances for club and country, his goal for Germany his first in national colours. On Matchday 2 Stuttgart entertain Sparta Praha, who have failed to win any of their last 12 away games in the Champions League proper.
VIKTOR GYÖKERES (€7.5m) – SPORTING CP
Gyökeres caught the eye ahead of Matchday 1 after making a blistering start to the season for both Sporting CP and Sweden, and he is showing no signs of slowing down his incredible output ahead of his club's next league phase fixture away at PSV Eindhoven. The forward returned nine points against LOSC Lille in Sporting's Champions League opener, and then scored twice against AVS in Primeira Liga action on 22 September to make it 19 attacking returns in just ten appearances for club and country this season.
